THE GOVERNOR HAS NO RIGHT TO REMOVE THE VC:ASUU REACTS

ASUU has condemned the removal of
ASUU, In a statement released few minutes ago by the organization, it stated that the body is unsatisfied with the actions of the State Government.

THE VICE CHANCELLOR, Who was replaced with Professor Mrs Ajayi, a professor in the department of Biochemistry to be an Acting VC till proper arrangements are made.

The Vice Chancellor Of EKSU was removed arbitrarily, they said,

ASUU also state that The Governor does not have any right to remove the Vice Chancellor.


The Academic Staff Union of Universities, @ASUUNGR, in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has condemned the removal of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, by Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The vice chancellor of EKSU was arbitrarily removed. The removal is hereby condemned in strong terms and in its entirety.

The university is an autonomous institution with extant rules and governing regulations.

The appointment and removal of a VC has procedures under the laws of the university.

ASUU-EKSU chairman, Prof. Olufayo Olu-Olu, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday said Fayemi’s action did not follow due process.

Olu-Olu said the governor lacked the powers to remove the VC...

adding that, “It is the university's Governing Council that has the power to remove the VC, after following due process.”
